Comments:

After graduating from the School of Journalism at KU I began my business career in Steamboat Springs, Co, Whitefish, Mt., and Carmel, Ca. in real estate sales and development. In 1977 I returned to the Kansas City area and founded with my two partners, Wysong, Quimby, and Jones Advertising.

In 1991 I sold my interest in the advertising agency and started Wysong Capital Management and the Wysong Family Foundation.

I have been on numerous boards, task forces, and committees and currently am serving as a Trustee at the University of Kansas.

I began a 15 year political career in 1995 culminating as a Kansas Senator.

My wife, Kathy of 50 years, and I enjoy traveling and spending most of our time with our family in Colorado. Now living in Denver and having a mountain home in Aspen, we continue to ski in the winter and relish the mountains and all that Colorado awards us in the summer.
Retirement has given me the opportunity to continue to do all the things I have always loved to do. I enjoy playing golf, snow skiing, duck hunting, and sailing. As well, traveling and drinking fine wine from all parts of the world with good friends.

School Story:

What a great three years I spent at Southwest.

During my athletic participation, our football and golf teams won two and three league championships respectfully, and swimming three league and district wins and a one point loss our senior year at the state championship.

I also cherish my memories of Carder Manning, The Concert Choir, male octet, and The Unsinkable Molly Brown, The Music Man, and How To Succeed In Business, as well, Jack “Sugar Bear” Weymouth, football and swim coach.

I attended Carder's funeral in Belton, Mo. and SW was well attended with 7 others.

Carder was a great guy and a wonderful music director.  Although he showed a temper

once in a while, he also had a great sense of humor.  As a two year member in the male octet

and three year member in the Concert Choir, he was, along with a few coaches, someone

who was very important in my Southwest years.
