Maggie Finkel Gilmore passed away on March 19, 2026 at Advent Hospital in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. She had been undergoing treatment for double pneumonia and cardiac issues since March 2nd,. but her condition began to decline last Saturday. Her dear friend, Ernie Schein, notified us of her death and said she passed peacefully. Ernie also said she wanted to be cremated and did not want a funeral service.
At this time, we don’t know if an obituary will be published. If it is, we will post the link on this page and send another notification. We are unaware of any special charities that Maggie supported, but she had adopted her 2 cats from Great Plains SPCA in Merriam, KS, so a donation to that organization would be meaningful.
We’ve attached a recent photo of Maggie that was taken in December, 2025. She will be missed by so many of us. Rest in peace, sweet friend.

About 20+ years ago, Maggie and I reconnected by chance through a very dear friend of both of us. We have kept in constant contact since, mostly through our connection to our very ill mutual friend. I will miss you, Maggie, especially at our monthly ladies luncheons.

Sadly, I haven't seen Maggie in quite a while but I have so many good memories of my friend from school and swimming at the JCC in the summers. She was, as everyone knows, funny and nice and just a great friend and a bunch of fun to be with. May her memory be a blessing.

Ditto what everyone else has said about Maggie. One of the last exchanges we had was just after my brother died in February. She knew I was going through hell with having to move my husbandk, Lee, into a nursing home and then having my brother pass away at almost the same time. Her words to me were that she wanted to be my number one helpmate in dealing with everything. That was Maggie; always there when anyone needed help. I will miss her dearly, and I will also remember everything good about Maggie. RIP good friend.

Maggie was a peach! Every single time I came into town from Minnesota she would say let's get together for a meal. Sometimes it was lunch, sometimes it was dinner! But always about 6-8 of us got together! In between trips she would call and we would talk for a long time! As I said, she was just a peach of a person! When Hilda called and gave me the sad news, we cried a wee bit and just remembered the good times!! Maggie will always be in my heart. She was the best!! RIP dear friend!!Emily Brinkman (Jewett)

As I remember it, Maggie and I first met and bonded at Bingham after the similairity of our names had caused some confusion. As others have said, she always had a smile and seemed genuinely happy to see you. I will miss visiting with her at the occasional gatherings and am so sad to hear of her passing. RIP dear friend.
