I have many great memories of being with Martha. She was always so kind to me, and was in fact nice to everyone. She had an easy laugh, and in spite of being so well liked, was completely unaffected by her popularity. She was always VERY down to earth. She was a beautiful girl, but totally unconcerned about her looks, wore her sister's hand me downs and still always looked like a model.
She also had the good fortune of being part of a GREAT family. Loved being at her house and her Ozark cabin, and enjoyed being around ALL the Clays. Fun bunch of people!
To me, Mary Alice Lang said it best. Martha was not only beautiful and popular, but she was kind. This is unfortunately a fairly rare combination, but she had it to her everlasting credit.
